Jenny Shirey, Owner
Jenny Shirey (rhymes with “smiley”) is an experienced facilitator and UX leader who has been designing digital products and services since 2005. She started out in visual design and moved into UX after earning a Master of Design from Carnegie Mellon University.
Since then, she’s led product design teams in multiple startups and enterprise software companies, including Citrix, Trustpilot, and Splunk. In 2020, she started Bay Bridge UX as a way to teach best practices for creating human-centered products and helping designers grow in their careers.
Jenny makes her home in beautiful San Francisco, and loves crossword puzzles, dim sum, and cuddling on the sofa with her rescue greyhound.
Expert UX Leader and User Researcher
Jenny’s accomplishments in UX include:
18 years of experience as a UX designer and user researcher, focusing on complex systems and B2B products
A specialty in UX and user research for developers and dev ops teams, including designing developer documentation sites and conducting usability studies for developer tools
Successfully launching cloud platforms and web applications used by millions of people daily at companies like Splunk and Citrix
Leading the UX organization at Trustpilot in Denmark, and launching design and user research initiatives that resulted in greatly increased sales leads and user retention
Redesigning the entire information architecture, navigation, and content design for the Citrix intranet, a site with thousands of pages used by 9,000+ employees, which won a Design for Experience Award
Jenny’s teaching and facilitation experience includes
Facilitating large-scale workshops and roundtables at international UX conferences since 2014, including Interaction21 and UX Copenhagen 2017.
Teaching UX Design courses as an adjunct faculty member at the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation at UC Berkeley and other institutions since 2013
Facilitated virtual cohort sessions at Rosenfeld Media's Enterprise Experience and Design Ops conferences in 2020
Conducting customized virtual trainings for companies on product discovery, UX design, persuasive storytelling, and personas
Coaching designers since 2014 both in-house as a design leader, and individually through her consulting practice
Certification in "Facilitating Design Thinking" from Cooper / DesignIt
